Club after Club in Costa Rica will leave you feeling Livin;’ La Vida Loca. Costa Rica has a little bit of everything from Irish Pubs to Latin Karaoke Bars. Personally when in San Jose I always find myself meandering over to either Hotel Del Rey for poker or Shannon’s Irish Pub if I’m just looking to wind down the night. Many newly minted bachelor party fellas don’t regret choosing Costa Rica over Vegas when they land here because of such a wide variety of clubs and bars. You’re not inundated with tourists and you get to experience a tropical Latin fantasy land without the burden of United States red tape.

Experiencing nightlife in the tropics is a once in a lifetime and unmatchable experience. It will seem as if the options are limitless and the area will surely cater to any desires your party may have. Bars, clubs, and discos are popular destinations for nightlife enthusiasts. The clubs are always swamped with amazing Latin dancers who can show you step by step their moves, but hopefully you can keep up because the steps are muy rapido! Every bar and club has a unique vibe to it to go along with whatever mood strikes you and your friends at that moment. Some bars cater to primarily tourists, some mix both, and some mostly locals, we suggest you try out them all.

• El Cuartel

  Cuartel's famous ladies night never fails to draw in attractive Costa Rican women. If you and the guys want to mix it up with some local girls, Cuartel is always a good option on weeknights. Its abstract interior includes a maze-like design that makes for a memorable experience. Spanish tunes with a splash of American dance music will remind you that you're far away from home….But not too far.

  Jazz Cafe

  If you're in the mood to relax and listen to some great live jazz bands, the Jazz Cafe in San Pedro is definitely worth swinging by. Famous bands from all over the western hemisphere make a point to stop in and perform well into the early morning hours. This is for our chilled out groups who aren’t ready to go out clubbing yet, but still want to relax out on the town.

• Copacabana

  Copacabana is a large dance club in San Jose that usually plays Spanish merengue and reggae music. This club attracts a young, energetic crowd and despite its upscale aesthetics, you can have an exciting night without having to break the bank. The only problem is, the club stays open until 4 am, so pace yourself!

• Shakespeare Bar

  If you're not much of a partier, but don't want to spend the entire night in your room, Shakespeare Bar is a nice, reserved bar where you can have a drink or two. It is located next to the Sala Garbo movie theater so it makes a great place to meet up with the group after grabbing some food and a cervezas.

• El Tobogán

  We hope you brought your dance moves, because this club has the hottest dance floor in Costa Rica. Salsa and merengue are the dominant genres with live bands performing almost every night. You'll be amazed at how quickly the football field-sized dance area fills up, and the guy-to-girl ratio is always about equal. El Tobogán is only opened on the weekends so it makes a great Saturday night party spot.

• Utopia

  Costa Rica's Utopia has earned a place in the hearts of night lifers worldwide and is often referred to as the hottest club in the country. Located just 30 minutes from downtown San Jose, the upscale, glitzy atmosphere of Utopia has been known to attract fashion enthusiasts from around the globe. Expect to see international celebrity appearances and some of the prettiest women you have ever laid eyes on. You will be sure to get your fill of late night fun because the house music and drinks here keep flowing until 4 am. And that’s just when the bar allegedly closes. The reality is that it stays open far longer for those that like to watch the sun rise.

  Vertigo

  Vertigo's newly renovated two-story dance lounge has featured some of the world's most prominent house and techno DJs. This flashy night club boasts one of the most advanced sound systems in Central America and is sure to keep you grooving all night long. Vertigo's main room features a large dance floor, bars, and light effects. The second room is a bit less intense, with couches and a full bar to entertain the more passive partier. If you are accustomed to American night clubs, you will love the modern, energetic vibe of this hot spot.

  Shannon's Irish Pub

  Sometimes a memorable night out with the guys only requires the essentials; good drinks and good music. The Irish have understood this concept for centuries and with this knowledge, given us the Irish Pub. Even here in San Jose, Costa Rica, Shannon's provides a relaxing yet entertaining atmosphere that you would expect from an Irish Pub with reasonable drink prices and a friendly staff. It's the perfect place to mingle with locals and fellow travelers alike, or kick back with your buddies and laugh about the day's adventures. Shannon's really is a "can't miss" and we highly recommend stopping by.

  The Backyard Bar in Jaco is an open-air, beachside bar that is a favorite for party-goers. Many visitors stop in for Backyard's famous Happy Hour in the afternoon. You can enjoy dirt cheap drinks as you watch the sun set over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Once the sun goes down, the party picks up. Live DJs, beach bonfires, and lots of gorgeous women make the Backyard Bar a unique Costa Rican party destination you will definitely want to check out.

  Fiesta Casino

  There's something about a classy casino that brings out the "Baller" in all of us. The Fiesta Casino is located in San Jose and offers all of the amenities you need for a perfect guy's night out. Aside from hundreds of slot machines and game tables, the Pirate's Sports Bar and Grill provides additional entertainment with live bands, world class cuisine, and of course, plenty of women waiting to meet some high-rollers.
